A small boat helping to put things into scale . . . This iceberg was white in color but the postion of the sun and gray skies give the surface a surreal shiny look.
A closer-up view of this amazing site!
This low flat section of ice is one of the largest intact pieces as it is almost 2 miles long. The longest ever recorded was 8 miles long.
The photographer being photographed. Notice the ice flows in the distnace . . . our ship twice that evening had to turn around and retrace to clear water to avoid being enveloped into the ice flows in the dark of night. Needless to say, the captian proceeded slow ahead -- ultimately resulting in a delay in the sailing schedule of 6 hours.
Ice passing very close by the ship as we cruise along.
They seemed to almost glow in the darkness . . . ( I regret this shot isn't fully in focus )
