We started our summer with four glorious days surrounded by water. We stayed at CASTLE HILL INN & RESORT which is at the far tip of Newport Island at the mouth of Narragansett Bay where it meets the Atlantic.
The main part of the Inn is housed in a summerhouse built in 1874 overlooking the narrows where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic.
The FAWAN, originally built for John Jacob Astor IV as a launch for the Hudson River and his estate of Ferncliff.
Elizabeth, owner of Seascope Yacht Charters - always working to get things ready to go!
Our friends, who now own part of the original Ferncliff estate, joined us this day for a great outting on Narragansett Bay.
An early sunset sail with our instructor from the Newport Sailing School.

Newburyport, Massachusetts and South Orleans on Cape Cad
On the tail end of summer we were fortunate enough to try two Massachusetts beach experiences. First on the North Shore about one hour north of Boston in the charming seaside town of Newburyport and Plum Island. Then we headed south and onto Cape Cod for a house swap for the first time... enjoying ten days on the Cape to explore plus a great day visit out to Nantucket Island.
On the upper deck at BLUE - THE INN ON THE BEACH on Plum Island.
WOW - were we ever the lucky ones with this house swap... to walk in find this lovely home! We'd seen pictures beforehand, but they did't do justice to how comfortable and cozy this really was. Thank you Lucinda and Dave.
